Chuka appointed as Shadow Business Minister

Chuka has been appointed as Shadow Minister for Small Business & Enterpise by Ed Miliband, it was announced yesterday.

The appointment follows the resignation of Gordon Banks MP to concentrate on his constituency. In his new role, Chuka will be part of Labour’s shadow frontbench Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) team, led by John Denham.

Mr Umunna will be shadowing government minister Mark Prisk and will be leading on small business issues, business finance and support, deregulation, corporate governance and economic growth.

Commenting on the appointment, Chuka said:

“I am deeply honoured and grateful to have been appointed to serve as Shadow Business Minister in John Denham’s shadow BIS team.”

“In this new role, I look forward to working more extensively alongside small businesses in Streatham and beyond and fighting their corner in Parliament.”
