Chuka visited local businesses in Streatham to promote and celebrate Small Business Saturday. Chuka helped bring Small Business Saturday to the UK when he was Shadow Business Secretary, having noticed how much support had been generated by the campaign in the US.
This Small Business Saturday, Chuka visited Streatham’s new restaurant Hood, winner of Time Out’s Love London Award, chatting to customers enjoying brunch. He then re-visited local DJ and audio store Fizz DJ to talk business and mixing with owner Roland, and popped into Al Jazeera Coffee to chat to customers of the Somali-run café and restaurant, which is reaching out to the wider Streatham community.
Chuka said: “Our small businesses are an essential part of our communities, and it’s so important to take the opportunity to celebrate their contribution. Streatham is fortunate to have a vibrant, unique range of independent businesses – we are rightly proud of our local entrepreneurs and their businesses which create jobs and an identity for our area.”
