Chuka visited Safer London to talk to the team about their programs in Lambeth and across London which are aimed at preventing youth violence and working with young people affected by violence, vulnerability and exploitation.
The charity are doing vital work, as the lead delivery partner in the MOPAC funded Gang Exit Service, and responding to emerging issues such as county lines and working with young girls and men on sexual exploitation and harmful behaviour and use of social media.
Chuka said: “In London and my borough, Lambeth, we have seen an alarming increase in youth violence, particularly with gun and knife crime. Serious youth violence has such a devastating impact on our communities - it’s time to focus on what works, and what more can be done to prevent the situation from getting any worse.
"It’s been extremely valuable to speak to the Safer London team to see what impact their intervention programs are having on the ground across London.”
