Bring local rail services under TFL control – Show your support.
Since becoming the Member of Parliament for Streatham I have received hundreds of complaints from constituents and commuters using Southern Rail and Thameslink Services (both operated by Govia Thameslink) from, to and through Streatham’s three stations.
Like many of those who have written to me, I am all too familiar with the frequent delays, cancellations, and unpredictable changes to journeys.
Although the Department for Transport have agreed to bring Greater London suburban services under the control of Transport for London as the current franchises expire, this isn’t due to happen for until 2021.
This is completely unacceptable, I don’t think five more years of delayed, cancelled and overcrowded and journeys is good enough. Therefore, I am calling for the Department for Transport to terminate the franchise early and to bring these services under the control of TFL as soon as possible.
