Brixton Soup Kitchen

Chuka met with volunteers and staff of the Brixton Soup Kitchen to discuss how progress is being made with recent investment and to see the new boiler installed by LS1 kitchens.

He was then able to meet with patrons to talk about the Brixton Soup Kitchen still needing further investment from private companies to keep feeding the residents of the area, and how they only receive support from one major supermarket which is M&S Food. Chuka was able to serve chicken which had been donated from Nandos whilst talking to some of the younger members who had benefitted from Lambeth college’s culinary courses.

Chuka also spoke to members who had found volunteering at the soup kitchen a great way to support a steady lifestyle and found that helping out had allowed them to make new friends through a helpful supportive project.
